Your body can learn a new way
I’ve been hearing myself say this a lot lately:
Ageing and menopause are transitions, not the beginning of decline
Decline is not inevitable
Dis-ease, pain, stiffness and chronic conditions can affect how we move, how we feel and what we believe is still possible. They can also be signs that the body is asking for another way.
I have witnessed many times how therapeutic movement can ease pain and stiffness, support recovery and the changes that come with menopause and ageing.
It is a joy to see people feel more comfortable in the body they have now.
This is different from a yoga or fitness class. It is targeted, more detailed and designed to support recovery, new movement patterns and daily life with greater confidence.
Your body has spent a lifetime adapting to injury, stress, surgery, habits and the way you’ve lived. Many of those adaptations have helped you keep going.
There is a reason your body moves the way it does.
You haven’t done anything wrong.
Some patterns may now be ready for a new response.
Together we’ll slow movement down, explore its smallest details and discover movement patterns that create greater ease, confidence and freedom in everyday life.
Ageing, menopause and possibility
Ageing changes the body. Menopause changes the body too.
That does not mean your body has stopped responding, learning or finding new ways to move.
There is no magic age where possibility ends.
Many of us have absorbed the idea that pain, stiffness or reduced confidence are simply what happens as we get older. Sometimes the body is asking for attention, support and a different way of moving.
This stage of life can also bring more clarity, experience and self-knowledge. The body can be part of that change too.
Symptoms can change. Movement patterns can change. Confidence can grow.
Everyday life can become easier.
Is this for you?
This programme may be for you if you have noticed:
- Pain or stiffness
- Your body needing support after injury or surgery
- Menopause changes
- Reduced comfort or confidence in your body
- Balance concerns
- A long term health condition
- Walking, stairs, getting up from the floor, gardening, reaching, lifting, yoga, sport or travel feeling different from how they used to
- A wish to return to your yoga practice, fitness, dancing, walking, tennis, golf or the activities you enjoy with more confidence
Movement as Medicine for Everyday Life helps you make sense of what your body is showing you, move with more ease, and return to daily life with greater confidence.
My approach
Your body has wisdom.
It has adapted again and again to help you keep going.
Those adaptations helped, and now your body may be asking for another way.
Two people can have the same problem, do exactly the same movement, and one improves while the other doesn’t.
Your body is unique and we need to respect that.
When you pause, listen and notice how your body moves, its messages become clearer.
Your brain and body can learn new movement patterns. That is why the same movement can feel completely different when it is done with more awareness, less effort, and a better sense of support.
These changes often begin with slowing things down, being curious and attentive.
Over time, this can become a different relationship with your body, one where you listen and respond to its messages.
If you have a diagnosis
Your diagnosis is important. It gives useful information and helps us respect what your body needs.
This programme is not an alternative to medical care, osteopathy, physiotherapy or any treatment you need.
It supports the part of the picture that can still respond through movement, awareness and a different relationship with your body.
Symptoms can change.
Movement patterns can change.
Confidence can grow.
Everyday life can become easier.
Together we explore what is possible for you.
