Spring Equinox: a quiet balance of light

blossom emerging in early spring light, soft white flowers against branches, reflecting the gentle shift of the season

The blue sky and brighter mornings lately have been catching my attention.

There is a sense that something is shifting, even if it is still cool, even if winter has not fully let go.

We are arriving at the Spring Equinox. A moment where day and night meet in equal measure. Not for long, just a pause, a balancing point.

And I always feel this as a gentle nudge rather than a big change.

Something beginning to open.

Not fully here yet, but on its way.

You might notice it in yourself too.

A little more energy on some days. A pull towards being outside. Wanting lighter food, or lighter clothes, even if you still need your coat.

And at the same time, a part of you that still wants to rest. To stay wrapped up. To move slowly.

Both can be here.

This is the part that often gets missed.

Spring is not a sudden burst forward. It is a gradual return.

The earth is not in a rush. Buds are forming, but not fully open. The ground is softening, but still holding the memory of winter.

We are no different.

There may be things in your life that are beginning to stir. Ideas, plans, a sense of readiness. Or simply a feeling that you want something to shift.

And alongside that, there may still be tiredness, uncertainty, or a need to stay close to yourself.

Nothing has gone wrong if that is the case.

This point in the year is not asking you to push. It is asking you to notice.

Where is there a little more light

Where is there still a need for warmth and protection

Where do you feel ready to step forward, even in a small way

And where do you need to stay exactly where you are

Even this simple awareness begins to bring a kind of balance.

I often think of this time as a threshold.

Not fully winter, not fully spring.

A place where you can stand with one foot in each, and feel what is true for you now.

You do not have to rush across.

If you want to mark this in a simple way, it can be very quiet.

Stepping outside and noticing the light

Pausing for a few breaths in the morning or evening

Placing a hand on your heart and sensing what is beginning to shift, however subtly

No big ritual needed.

Just a moment of recognition.

This is a time of beginning again, but in a way that is steady and real.

Not forced. Not rushed.

Just life, slowly returning.
