Third Eye Chakra : Intuition, Inner Vision & Clarity

Between the eyebrows lies the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna), the centre of intuition, inner vision, and clarity. Often symbolised as indigo light, Ajna invites us to look beyond appearances — to see not only with the eyes, but with insight. When this chakra is open and balanced, there is a natural trust in inner knowing; when clouded, confusion, overthinking, or doubt may take hold.

Practices to Support Ajna

  • Trataka (candle gazing) — Sit comfortably with a lit candle at eye level. Gaze softly at the flame, then close the eyes and notice the inner image between the brows. This develops focus and clarity.
  • Sound practice — Gently chant om (a-u-m) on an exhale, feeling the vibration ripple through head and heart. Or tone the vowel “ay” to awaken inner space.
  • Breath-led forward fold — In viniyoga, gentle seated or standing forward bends (e.g., simple seated fold) can calm overactive thinking and draw awareness inward.
  • Visualisation — Imagine a deep indigo light at the brow centre, steady and luminous, offering guidance and perspective.
  • Journaling — Write down dreams, symbols, or moments of intuition. Notice patterns that reveal deeper truths.

Rooted in Wholeness

In Gaia Touch and other horizontal models, the third eye is not only a point of inner seeing, but also a channel of perception connecting outward — sensing and weaving into the subtle fields around us. Ajna reminds us that vision is more than sight: it is the wisdom to perceive connections, to see beyond duality, and to trust the quiet inner guide that is always present.

When balanced, the third eye brings clarity, calm discernment, and a steady trust in your own inner wisdom.
