A Living Centre of Earth, Water, Fire and Air
In times of change and uncertainty, it is easy to be pulled away from ourselves by the noise of the world. Yet beneath it all, something quieter continues.
The body remembers.
The land reminds.
There is a deeper rhythm moving beneath the surface of daily life. A steadier place we can return to.
Listening for the Deeper Rhythm
When did you last pause long enough to notice this rhythm within you? Not just the physical heartbeat, but something subtler. A quiet centre that feels connected to the land, the seasons, and the living world around you.
This is what I call the Elemental Heart.
A living centre within the body that reflects the qualities of Earth, Water, Fire and Air.

A Bridge Within the Body
This centre is not limited to the physical heart. It can be sensed in the space between the heart and solar plexus. A place of balance and connection within the body.
Here, grounding and movement come together. Breath and feeling begin to connect. A sense of balance begins to return.
This is about experience rather than doing. A felt sense of connection between body, breath and awareness.
An Ancient Understanding of the Body
Many traditional approaches to healing understood the body as more than structure alone. They recognised a living field of movement, sensation and awareness.
The Elemental Heart reflects this understanding. A place where the qualities of Earth, Water, Fire and Air are felt within the body:
Earth brings steadiness, support and grounding.
Water brings flow, feeling and adaptability.
Fire brings warmth, energy and motivation.
Air brings breath, space and clarity.
These qualities are always present. Sometimes they feel balanced. Sometimes one becomes more dominant.
Through listening, movement and breath, they can begin to settle again.
A Simple Practice of Remembering
If you feel drawn, sit quietly for a moment.
Bring your awareness to the space between the heart and solar plexus.
Notice your breath. Notice the contact of your body with the ground.
You may begin to sense steadiness, movement, warmth, or spaciousness.
There is nothing to force. Just listening.
A Living Connection
The Elemental Heart reminds us that we are part of the living world around us. The same qualities we see in nature also move within us.
Earth steadies.
Water moves.
Fire warms.
Air opens space.
When we reconnect with these qualities, something often begins to shift. The body settles. The breath deepens. A quieter sense of balance returns.
Returning to the Elemental Heart
The Elemental Heart is not something to achieve. It is something we return to.
A living centre within the body.
A meeting place of steadiness and change.
A reminder that we belong.
